Ready to scale – UPowr joins EnergyLab’s Scaleup Program
The UPowr team is excited to announce its place as one of 13 companies joining EnergyLab’s inaugural Scaleup Program.
Officially launched last Friday, the Scaleup Program has been developed to help accelerate high impact clean energy startups to unlock growth and partnership opportunities, both in Australia and overseas.
Backed by key energy stakeholders including ARENA, APA, Powerlink, CS Energy, FRV, Counties Power, Nectr, Westpac, Yurika and the International Microgrid Association, the Program will run for five months and offer each startup its own curated journey.
Each of the thirteen companies were required to demonstrate significant potential to develop and deploy technologies needed for the transition to 100 percent renewable energy. As a core part of UPowr’s mission, UPowr is pleased to form part of the inaugural cohort each tackling a piece of the transition puzzle.
Launched in 2018, UPowr’s aim is to increase the uptake of residential solar, batteries and orchestration products by offering personalised end-to-end experiences through the UPowr Platform.
Facilitating a completely digital installation experience, the UPowr Platform simplifies the process for homeowners, while also giving them greater insights into the value each product could bring.
UPowr Co-Founders Stu Philpot (CEO) and Daniel Friedman (CIO) shared that they are excited to join the EnergyLab program – especially as they ready the team to enter the next phase of growth. UPowr is on track for a 10x growth rate in FY21.
“In the past two years we’ve secured partnerships with Tier 1 and 2 electricity retailers, closed a seed round, and grown the team to 9 employees. I’m incredibly proud of the team's achievements to date and we are looking forward to working with the talented cohort and EnergyLabs throughout the Scale Up program,” Stu said.
“With the UPowr Platform launching direct to consumer and a roadmap full of new features – we’re excited to be included amongst Australia’s most exciting startups in the energy tech space.”
Daniel echoed Stu’s remarks of excitement, also commenting on the growth readiness of the UPowr Platform.
“We set out to change the way households adopt clean energy technologies. We started with solar as we recognised it as the key starting point for households – but we’ve built this starting point knowing the direction we want to grow in. This direction will quickly include batteries as well as being able to model and show households the value of orchestration plans at the point of sale.”
“We think that being able to show this kind of value to customers will drastically change the value proposition and we’re confident this will be a game changer in the residential clean energy space,” Daniel said.
